Beloit College Mindset List for the Class of 2014

The Beloit College Mindset List for the class of 2014 is a well thought out and humorous compilation of facts that people of the 2014 class simply must admit to.  The list has obviously been well thought out and I believe it will prove true for most of the class of 2014.  Although a majority of the statements I can relate to one hundred percent, there are a few that I am appalled by and completely do not fit it with.
Right off at the beginning I was discouraged, “Few in the class know how to write cursive”.  I think it is a shame that most cannot write cursive.  I was taught at an early age and it stuck, my print looks terrible compared to it.  Another fact that was surprising was most don’t know Clint Eastwood as Dirt Hairy.  Although it was a while ago, I see it as a rich part of American history and if this continues it should be covered in history classes throughout school.
When I first used a computer at school it was most definitely lacking a CD Drive, so I must disagree with the Beloit Mindset List.  I do remember the good old days when technology was still on the rise and floppy disk ruled the industry.  As long as I can remember pointing at your wrist has always meant your referring to the time.  I don’t believe there should be anybody that doesn’t know this no matter what his or her age.  Its one of those things you can always use in time crunch situation or just wanting to know the time without talking.
As far as “Wal-Mart selling hand guns in the lower 48”, WHAT!?  I knew they sold guns, as in rifles and shotguns, but never handguns.  That is absolutely crazy and proves the list correct.  It is amazing how much times have changed when it comes to regulations and security.  It’s a scary world we live in, and it keeps changing.
I guess when it comes down to it; the Beloit College Mindset List is pretty damn accurate.  I can relate to about 90% of what they listed and the other 10% is just by chance something I might have been exposed to as a child by a crazy aunt or uncle.  Its truly amazing how much the world has changed since the class of 2014 has been alive, which opens thought to how much more it is going to change in the future.

  1. Easten you stud, we do have similar blogs. Floppy disks are where it's at. I like your concluding paragraph.

  2. I completely agree with you! It's so funny to see how similar a lot of ours are. Except for Connor & Ben's. haha. They just completely blew us out of the water. Anyway, great insight! The cursive thing really threw me off as well, for crying out loud, I spent an ENTIRE grade level just learning how to write it!! I'm not going to put all of that to waste, am I? All in all, wonderful post!

  7. The entire post was well written. The list has some things in common with me, but still doesn't come close to matching me perfectly. I think I wrote my blog wrong major FAIL.

  8. Regulations have changed a lot. But as time goes by new rules are required to accommodate for the new technology and mindset.

  11. I like how you have a different view of cursive than a lot of people. I think it's awesome that you use it because it's better than your print.

  12. Okay, so we know understand how you feel about the topic, but is it something that is good or bad??? Are these things that we should be doing something about such as introducing Dirty Harry to the history books, or something such as not teaching basic math because we have calculators. Some things that is stated in this can be taken both ways and it is up to our generation to keep things going, which ever way we take it.
